Mint chutney
Mint is also known as pudina in Tamil. Mint leaves are refreshing and healthy. Mint is used in every day meal to spice up the food. Mint leaves have more health benefits especially when it is included in your food as raw(fresh mint).
Mint chutney is delicious side dish for breakfast recipes like Idly, dosa and paniyaaram. Mint leaves are good for health. Mint leaves are nutritious and it helps in digestion.
Mint chutney is made with chilies, dal, coconut and mint leaves, tamarind for its tangy flavor. Mint chutney can be made in different styles specifically for pulao, breakfast and snacks recipes. Here goes one method of mint chutney recipe as follows..
Ingredients:
Mint leaves-1 cup(cleaned)
Urad dal-1 tbsp
Chana dal-1 tbsp
Red chilies-2
Shredded coconut-2 tbsp
Cumin seeds-1 tbsp
Tamarind-few
Salt-as needed
Method:
- In a pan add some oil and saute Urad dal, Chana dal, red chilies till it changes color and aroma comes out. Transfer to a plate and allow it to cool.
- In the same pan add cleaned and washed mint leaves and saute for a minute. Transfer to same and cool the ingredients.
- In a mixer jar add roasted ingredients, shredded coconut, salt, tamarind, cumin seeds. Grind them to a coarse paste.
- Transfer to a bowl and add tadka over it.
- Serve this chutney with any Dosa and Idly varieties like beetroot dosa, plain rice dosa, tomato dosa, oats dosa, Rice Idly, Finger millet Idly or Jowar Idly.
