Beetroot Halwa
Beetroot halwa is slow cooked delicious dessert made on most festive occasions. Beetroot halwa is traditional Indian dessert made with grated beetroot, milk, sugar, cardamom and dry fruits.
Beetroot halwa is made similar to carrot halwa. This halwa is healthy and tasty sweet made with fresh ingredients. Halwa can be prepared with milk or without milk.
Condensed milk can be added instead of milk to give richness to halwa. It tastes better with sweetened condensed milk. Beetroot halwa can be made using oats milk, badam milk or any other vegan milk.
Ingredients:
Beetroot-(shredded) 1 bowl
Sugar or jaggery powder-1 cup(200 g)
Cardamom powder-1 tsp
Ghee-6-8 tbsp(100g)
Dry fruits-1/4 cup
Milk-1/2 cup
Method:
- In a pan add some ghee and heat it. Add dry fruits and saute till it changes color and keep aside.
- In the same pan add shredded beetroot and saute for 5-10 min till raw smell goes off.
- Now add milk and cook for 15 min. Add powdered sugar/jaggery, cardamom powder and mix well.
- Cook for another 5 min and mix well. Add ghee in the sides of halwa and mix well. Cook till oil separates from halwa.
- Now halwa becomes thick and gets its consistency. Add roasted dry fruits into halwa.
- Transfer to a bowl and serve hot or cold.
