Red Poha Laddu/Aval Laddu
Poha is popularly known as rice flakes made by flattening the rice. Poha is used to make breakfast recipes. It is lie weight and easy to digest. Poha is rich in fiber and low in calories.
Poha is most loved breakfast. Poha can also be had as lite evening meal. There are two different types of poha. Red and white rice poha. Poha can be used to make various recipes like vegetable poha using colorful vegetables. It is more tasty and healthy.
Poha laddus are generally made with white sugar. Instead try with brown sugar or jaggery. Easily digestible and healthy sweet recipe made in minutes.
Poha is used for various dishes like desserts, dosa, idli, upma, soups, kheer and so on. It is steam cooked and can be used in plenty of recipes.
Red rice poha is flattened poha made from red rice. It is high in nutrition compared to white rice flakes/poha. Poha laddu is also known as Aval Laddu. Poha laddu is lite sweetened dessert.
Ingredients:
Red poha-1 cup
Cardamom powder-1 tsp
Coconut shredded-2 tbsp
Light brown sugar-5 tbsp
Roasted peanuts-1/4 cup
Nuts & Dry fruits-1 tbsp
Ghee- 2-3 tbsp
Method:
- Wash the poha and soak with water for 2 minutes. Once water absorbed. It is ready to use.
- In a mixer jar, add the soaked poha and make coarse powder and keep aside.
- Now add the peanuts in mixer jar and grind to a coarse powder.
- In a pan, add some ghee and heat it. Now add the poha and saute for 1 minute and switch off the flame. Then add roasted peanut powder, cardamom, sugar and shredded coconut.
- Add more sugar if needed. Mix everything and make laddus. Add ghee roasted nuts. Easy and tasty laddus within 5 minutes.
Note:
- For variation use Country jaggery powder instead of brown sugar.
- Use ghee roasted nuts and dry fruits.
