Black-eyed bean Dosa || Karamani Dosa
Black-eyed bean is known in various names as black-eyed peas, Cowpea and China Pea. This bean is originally from Africa. Black-eyed bean is also known as white karamani, lobia, chawali. Lobia(black eyed bean is rich in soluble fiber, protein, and vitamins.
The name cowpea, as it is used in animal food. Black-eyed bean is rich in protein, fiber, vitamin A and slowly digesting carbohydrates which makes your stomach feels full for long time. In the American South, eating this black-eyed peas and greens on New Year’s day is considered good luck.
Ingredients:
Black eyed bean-1 cup(160ml)
Ginger-1 inch
Green chilies-4
Water- 1 cup
Oil-as needed
Salt-as needed
Method:
- Soak black eyed beans overnight and drain the excess water and keep aside.
- In a mixer grinder add green chilies, ginger, salt and soaked black eyed beans one by one and grind it to fine batter.
- Heat dosa pan with enough heat. Add a laddle full of batter and pour in hot pan and give a thin spiral round. Add little oil in corners of dosa.
- Add chopped onions, carrot, coriander leaves, jeera seeds for variation or make plain dosas and serve with tomato or coconut chutney.
