Coconut Green-Chilly Chutney
Coconut chutney is one of the great combination for South Indian breakfast and snack recipes. Coconut chutney is traditional South Indian side dish served in most of breakfast and snack recipes. This chutney is made with fresh coconut, spices and salt.
Coconut chutney is suitable for most breakfast recipes like idly, dosa, upma, uthappam, semiya, pongal and more. It is best suitable with starter snacks like medu vada, pakoras, and bonda.
Coconut chutney can be made in different variations using green chilies, red chilies, adding ginger, garlic, peanuts, curry leaves or coriander leaves and later it is tempered with some oil, chilies and curry leaves and add the tadka over coconut chutney.
The aroma from sauted red chilies and curry leaves gives flavor to chutney. Chana and urad dal sauted in oil looks golden brown and crispy. Here goes the method of coconut green chilly chutney..
Ingredients:
Fried gram(pottukadalai)-1/4 cup
Green chilies-3
Curry leaves-few
Mustard & Urad dal-1 tsp
Coconut(shredded)-1/2 cup
Salt-1 tsp
Water-1/2 cup
Ginger-1 inch
Garlic-1clove
Red chilies-2
Method:
- In a mixer jar add shredded coconut, fried gram, green chilies, ginger, garlic and salt.
- Grind it to a coarse powder. Add required water and check for salt.
- Add tadka to chutney and serve.
- Coconut green chilly chutney suits for Rice Idly, Tomato Idly, Beetroot Idly, Moong Dosa, Tomato Dosa, Lobia Dosa, Plain Dosa and Vada recipes.
