GREEN MOONG DOSA




Green moong dal is rich in nutrients and antioxidant. Green moong or green grams are used to make curries, soup, dosa and desserts. Moong dal is  high in protein and easily digestible. 

Green gram(moong) is available in whole, split and de-husked (yellow)moong can be used in both sweet and spicy foods. It helps in weight loss. 

Moong dal is known as pachai payaru in Tamil. Sprouted moong are the beans which have been sprouted after soaked in water for 6-8 hours. Sprout moong beans can be used in salads, wraps and Kati rolls. 

Here in this recipe l made dosa batter with sprouted green moong, chilies, herbs and ginger. Simple and easy breakfast served with coconut or any spicy chutney. Here goes the recipe.. 

Ingredients:
Green moong dal-1 cup(sprouted)
Green chilies-2
Mint leaves-few
Coriander leaves-few
Grated ginger-1 tbsp
Salt- 1tbsp

Method:

  • Soak green moong dal for 8 hours or overnight with enough water. 
  • Drain the water and wrap with wet cloth or transfer to a bowl and close the lid partially. Keep the bowl in dark place away from sunlight. Leave it for 9-12 hours to get sprouted moong dal.
  • Add sprouted green moong to mixer jar.


  • Add green chilies, mint leaves, grated ginger, salt, coriander leaves and blend to batter consistency.
  • Make crispy dosas and serve with coconut chutney or tomato chutney.


Note:
  • Make fresh batter and use.
  • Dosa pan should be hot enough to make crispy dosas.
  • For more variation add some jeera, chopped onions and curry leaves into the batter and make dosas.
  • Simply soak green moong dal and grind this batter for Instant dosa. 
  • Use sprouted green moong dal for better taste.
