Chicken kuruma



Chicken Kuruma recipe is simple South Indian style of curry made as side dish for roti, parotta, plain rice, Idly, dosa and pulao.


Chicken kuruma is a curry made using ingredients like poppy seeds, coconut, fennel seeds, and spices.


Kuruma can be made in different styles with yogurt, nuts and coconut. Adding coconut in chicken kuruma gives richness to curry. Same style can also be used to make vegetable kuruma with your favorite vegetables or potatoes alone.


Ingredients:

Chicken-1 cup(500gm)

Green Chilies-2

Small onions-2

Big onion-1

Tomato-2

Coriander powder-1tbsp

Ginger-1 inch

Garlic cloves-4

Chilly powder-1tsp

Pepper powder-1 tsp

Chicken masala powder-2tbsp

Oil-3 tbsp

Mustard & Urad dal-1 tsp

Cinnamon-1 inch

Cloves-2

Poppy seeds-1 tsp

Fried gram(roasted chana)-1 tbsp

Fennel seeds-1tbsp

Coconut slices-4-5

 

Method:


Grind1:

  • In a mixer jar add ginger, garlic, cinnamon and cloves. Grind them to fine paste. Transfer to a bowl and keep aside.

Grind 2:

  • In another jar add coconut slices, poppy seeds, fried gram(roasted chana), fennel seeds and grind them to a fine paste.



Grind 3:

  • In a pan add some oil and heat it. Add roughly chopped onions, tomatoes and saute until soft. Switch off and allow it to cool.
  • Add the  onions, tomatoes, coriander powder, chicken masala powder and grind them to a fine paste.

 


To Cook:

  • In a pan add some oil and heat it. Add few onions, ginger garlic paste, curry leaves and saute well. 




  • Add chicken pieces, chilly powder and some salt. Mix well and allow it to cook for 10min. 



  • Add masala-coconut paste and mix well. Add required water and mix well. Cover and cook on low to medium flame until chicken turns soft.



                         


Cook for another 5-10 min and switch off the flame. Add chopped coriander leaves and serve.
